HOW DOES THE SYSTEM WORKS
Specialized plastic pipes are concealed in ceiling / floor / slab / walls and cold or hot water circulates in these pipes.
For cooling applications, this brings down the ceiling / floor / slab / wall surface temperature below human skin surface temperature.
The body heat and the heat of the surrounding objects is emitted and is absorbed by cooler ceiling / floor / slab / wall surfaces, leading to cooling comfort to a human being.
The exact reverse works for heating application, with hot water circulation in the same pipes.
The plastic pipes can be covered with all usual building materials.
PRINCIPLE OF RADIANT COOLING & HEATING
- The Hydronic Radiant Cooling and Heating System operates based on the principle of thermal radiation.
- According to the fundamental laws of physics, energy always moves from a higher level to a lower level. This means that energy is emitted or transmitted from an object or body with a higher temperature and absorbed by an object with a lower temperature. However, for this energy transfer to occur, there must be a cooled surface at a lower temperature to absorb the energy for cooling, or a heated surface at a higher temperature to emit the energy for heating.
- Unlike other forms of energy transfer, such as conduction or convection, radiant energy transfer occurs at the speed of light and does not require a medium to travel. This makes it the most efficient method of energy transfer.
- In the case of cooling applications, the building mass, including the floor, ceiling, and walls if necessary, is cooled. These cooled surfaces act as sinks, absorbing energy from the higher temperature surroundings. On the other hand, in heating applications, the building mass serves as the source of heat, while cooler bodies act as heat sinks, absorbing the emitted energy.
PRINCIPLE OF RADIANT COOLING & HEATING
- The transfer of heat occurs naturally, moving from hot objects to the cooler surroundings. This process not only provides comfort to the human body but also lowers the temperature of all objects within the space, especially in cooling applications.
- Conduction and natural convection eventually lead to a decrease in the air temperature.
